Moscow message

In July 2003, the youth convening in Moscow to represent 100 countries bat the “Youth Scientific Congress”, and participating it “IXth International Exhibit of the Youth Scientific and Technical Projects”, have exhorted the Heads of State and Government, as well as the leaders of the international organizations to “convene a special Summit to focus on the problems of education and Science development.

Thanks to the initiative taken by the MILSET and the AJST, which have decided to convene a “World Youth Congress in the Information and Knowledge Society” this call will be implemented during the second phase of the WSIS which will be held in Tunis in November 2005 with the initiative ”

 

A come-true initiative 

The meeting of the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), to be held in Tunis on November 14, 15 and 16th, 2005, has provided the opportunity for the “World Movement for Scientific and Technical and Leisure” (MILSET) and the “Youth Science of Tunisia” (AJST), to organize, on the eve of the Summit, and on November 14 and 15, 2005 a:

“World Youth Congress In the Information and Knowledge Society”

Congress agenda

The youth representing various world regions will be attempting, for two days, to exhibit:
- Their skills in terms of scientific research and technical progress, through an exhibit to be held inn order to illustrate many initiatives taken in various fields
_-their willingness to participate in the Debates through which human society would like to, ensure its future and the future of the next generations, in the light of the scientific and technical progress  which have been given full impetus and shall be dealt with immediately.

Within the framework of these debates, the youths will be endeavouring to:

Take stock of the situation and reiterate the commitments taken vi-à-vis the “Millennium Declaration”, adopted by the United Nations:
  a. the need to provide a dynamic and appropriate national and international environment, to help enhance
      a sustainable development effort for investments, transfer of technology and international cooperation.
  b. The need to give to the poor, and notably the youths living  in the remote and rural areas, as well as in
      the marginalized urban areas, the means to become self-reliant, to have access to information and use
      Information and Technologies of Communications (ITC), with a view to improving their living conditions
      and enjoy full progress.
  c. Praise the initiative taken at the UN General Assembly to set “ World Solidarity Fund”

To help highlight the genuine role entrusted to ITCs in order to stress that:
  a. Information Society shall be based on the respect of cultural identity and cultural and linguistic diversity,
      and shall endeavour to foster dialogue among world cultures and civilizations;
  b. Bridge the digital divide by granting preferential treatment to developing and provide them with more
      opportunities to boost their economic growth, offer more jobs and better quality standards;
  c. Ensure that ITCs, will be called upon to enhance cultural and leisure activities for youth.

 

Conclusion: Youth expectations

1. To praise and reinforce the status granted for Civil Society in order to foster the promotion of social, economic and cultural interests,

2. To put up with globalization by drawing up a polycentric and multi-cultural globalization concept based on equity, justice and diversity.

3. To establish an “International Youth Consultative Council”.
